Many Ways to Play

Traditional Tale: 1+ players

Choose a single player to be the designated storyteller. This player must draw one card from each of the 3 shuffled decks, at random. Once the player has selected one Star, one Setting and one Storyline: they must then tell a story inspired by their 3-card selection.

Tag, You are it: 2+ players

1. Choose a single player to be the designated story-starter. The player must draw one card from each of the shuffled decks, at random. Once the player has selected one Star, one Setting and one Storyline: they must then work together with ALL of the players to tell a shared-story inspired by their 3-card selection.

2. The story-starter will begin the story. They will eventually tag someone in to take their place as the storyteller when they see fit. The tagged player will pick up the story where the previous storyteller left off, adding on as much (or as little) as they want before tagging in their own replacement to carry on the story.

3. Storytelling continues until the shared story reaches a conclusion, as determined by the story-starter.

Helpful Hints

Use the creative illustrations and captivating, rhythmic poetry of the cards to help power your imagination.

It is wise to also review the Information Cards for each deck before playing. These cards explain the significance of each of the 3 categories (Star, Setting and Storyline) and the roles that they play in the storytelling process.

The Information Cards also provide hints to help the storytellers jump-start their stories. The players may refer to these cards as needed throughout the storytelling process.

There are no rules for how to use your imagination. You can play I-Spy with the illustrations. You can pull multiple cards throughout the story, if you feel that you need additional inspiration. You are the teller of your tale, the creator of adventure. How will you play?

We want you to be part of our story. A world of wonder awaits....
